ABOUT US
The Animal Protective Association is a registered animal welfare charity founded in 2006 in response to local needs to help unwanted, abandoned and ill-treated animals through field work, campaigning and education.
APA is a nonprofit organization that operates solely on donations and monies from fundraising. All the work carried out by APA is voluntary, and no one is paid. APA's members come from all walks of life but have one thing in common: the desire to help animals in need. Our goal is to work together to create a strong networking community for saving needy stray dogs and cats from abuse, neglect and abandonment.
The group started very informally, and had its genesis in a small group of concerned individuals and humane movement workers with several years' combined experience helping the strays in Ankara’s shelters. After years of volunteering in these shelters (cleaning cages, distributing food, helping adoption), the group decided to found a charity in order to do better, more effective, and timelier work.
APA’s mission is to rescue and secure good homes for stray and abandoned animals, promote spaying/neutering programs, improve poor conditions at shelters, and prevent cruelty to animals through humane education in the community.
We look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to help make a difference to the lives of the animals that come into our care.
