HOW CAN I HELP?

1) Become a Member

Without our members, APA could not continue to care for the animals that need our help. If you feel strongly about the future of Turkey's strays, or if you just love animals, or even if it's just because you have some free time and want to work with a friendly, dedicated group of like-minded people, why not become a member of APA?

2) Adoption

Considering adoption? What a wonderful choice you’re making! Careful placement of pets into responsible homes is one of APA’s primary and most rewarding missions. Every day we receive strays and pets from owners who are no longer able to care for them, and we make every effort to give them a second chance at finding a permanent, loving home.

Besides the animals left at veterinarians by their owners, there are thousands of strays in Ankara's shelters looking for homes. All are up for adoption. If you tell us the type of dog or cat you want, we can search to find a good companion for you. Then, thanks to you, we can save a dog or cat from living the rest of its life confined to a cage in substandard conditions.

Adoption is a large part of our animal charity work, and we take the adoption procedure very seriously.
We do check that all new owners know what they are taking on and are suitable for the animal – this is because a lot of these animals come from unhappy and unstable homes, some worse than others. APA's aim is to only place animals where they can enjoy a happy and stable home for the rest of their lives. The last thing an adopted animal needs is to be rejected again.

We always have various kinds of dogs and cats looking for homes, so please keep checking our gallery. If you'd like to offer a foster home, please contact us, letting us know the area you're in. If you're not in our local area, please still contact us and we'll help you get in touch with other centers in desperate need of foster homes.

We do not want these lovely animals to spend their whole life inside cages with no love. That’s why adoption is our priority. If you want to take in one of our lovely dogs or cats, we have many that are adoptable. They're just waiting for you to take them home!

3) Help and Support

There are several ways of helping needy dogs in shelters.

Their constant needs include:
- Dry dog food (Help feed an animal in need)
- Medical supplies
- Dog houses
- Grit and gravel
- Sawdust
- Money
- Love
